illustration: My work ranges in scope, style and passion. I am influenced by fashion, human nature, emotion, music, beauty, humor and awkwardness. The eyes and subtle gestures are most important. Eyes-the dimension they have draws the viewer in, which is why I like to make the heads bigger, they eyes different sizes and the irises huge. Subtle details of the body, hands and posture can speak the awkwardness or confidence the figures are to embody.

personal: On the other side, the paintings are centered around figures without "eyes" so to speak. I create these figures to represent emotions unexpressed. They speak with their bodies and convey a huge amount of emotion through negative spaces in the eyes and surrounding the figure. The figures are also joined with text. More

A diverse education helped form the (lovingly) artistic monster I have become. Starting at Montessori helped formulate an artistic mind. My parents are both professors of English at Fairleigh Dickinson University. They, my 3 older sisters and the circle of artists, philosophers and literary friends that surrounded me growing up influenced my choice in pursuing art and understanding it.

My degree is in English, Fine Art and Acting from Drew University, although I went through several colleges to finish my degree in four years. I also took workshops post college for many years at The School of Visual Arts in painting, illustration jewelry and design. Nancy Chunn was a huge help and support there.
